Hermen Anglada Camarasa
(Barcelona 1871- Pollensa 1959)
Portrait of Lily Granier
Oil on canvas
68 x 50 cm
This portrait of the woman who was model of Toulose Lautrec and Alberto de Belleroche, was a gift of Anglada Camarasa to the latter. It belongs to his first period in Paris, where he captures the nocturnal atmospheres of the Belle Epoque.
The works of Anglada Camarasa are distinguished by a vibrant and colorful brushstroke: This portrait presented consolidation problems due to the large amount of material that Camarasa used in his works. The cleaning of the aged varnish has allowed to recover the chromatic originality of the work.
