Joaquim Mir is considered the greatest exponent of postmodernism. He revolutionized the landscape genre in the late 19th century. His work is full of color and expressivity. He became part of the “Colla del Safrà” and had relationship with the group of “Els Quatre Gats”.
In this painting made with oil technique we can appreciate after the cleaning of the varnish layer the vibrant colors and the agile and loose brush stroke so characteristic of Mir. This artwork belongs to his period in Tarragona, where Mir has already achieved the stability and success as a painter.
