Manuel Cusí i Ferret was a Catalan portrait painter which attended the school of La Llotja in Barcelona and Léon Bonnat atelier in Paris. He exhibited in the Sala Parés and in different official exhibitions. We can find his artworks exposed in the National Art Museum of Catalonia and the Víctor Balaguer Museum in Vilanova i la Geltrú.
This work is part of his gallant themed paintings in which he sought to capture the female beauty portraying youthful figures dressed in brightly colored clothes. Upon arriving at the workshop the work presented alterations in the varnish and the polychromy due to a previous bad restoration. The varnish has been cleaned to correct this alteration and the darkened retouching has been eliminated.
