Artworks diagnostic and analysis

Ultraviolet, infrared and x-ray photography allow us to figure out in many cases what’s hiding behind a painting. These studies help us know the method used by every artist in the process of creating his artworks.
X-ray inspection allows us to obtain knowledge about internal structures that are not visible by visual inspection or using other means. It helps us detect second thoughts (pentimenti), re-used canvases, preparation paintings…
Ultraviolet photography allows us to detect old retouches and the different thickness of the varnish layers.
The inspection with microscope allows us to identify materials used in the artwork, to see in detail the conservation status and the degree of consolidation and cleanliness of the different layers.
